“Spectral Witness” is an artwork that asks to be verified. The drawing, matrix, spectrum, hash, and animation are not parallel descriptions; they are projections of one object.
The visible graph is positioned by the Laplacian eigenvectors of its own adjacency matrix. The animation is not decorative motion: it is repeated transition through the row-normalized graph until the state approaches its stationary distribution.
The work rewards looking, but it rewards inspection more. Change the matrix and the image, spectrum, residue, hash, and computed artist name all change with it.
OBSERVED SYSTEM:
A → D → L → W → π
CLAIM:
render(A) ≡ spectrum(A) ≡ hash(A) ≡ limit(Wⁿx)
TERMINATION:
not stillness,
but residual motion below perceptual threshold.
ERROR MODEL:
ε = 1e-10
runtime = IEEE-754 binary64
REQUEST:
